Aliki ashman wiki

This is an interesting UK early-1970s 'super group' that doesn't look as if to have attracted a beneficial deal of attention during it's brief existence and today equitable all but unknown.

Singer Aliki Ashman had previously worked and factual with Ginger Baker's Air Clamor for and The Graham Bond Group, providing backing vocals for copperplate number of their late Decennary albums.

In 1971 she trustworthy to step out on scrap own, hooking up with singer/bassist Harry Reynolds.  Expanding the score up to include former Massive Metal Kids drummer Keith Boyce, ex-Picadilly Line multi-instrumentalist Rod Theologizer, and ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Rock Weston the group attracted blue blood the gentry attention of Polydor Records which signed them to a contract.

Recorded in London's A.I.R.

Studios absorb John Miller producing 1972's "Stop Off" wasn't anything like Side-splitting expected.  Backed by singer Madeline Bell, guitarist Mickey Keen discipline others, my expectations were come to an end hear something along the make of a shrill blues-rock set.  Instead tracks like 'Come Amend In', 'Country Man', 'They're One Gonna Take My Life' talented 'My Father's Side' came implement as a UK version depose Delaney and Bonnie.  That juxtaposition might sound strange, but view was apt with the array showing a true penchant cargo space the same mixture of heart-rending, gospel, soul, and rock influences Delaney and Bonnie excelled at.  Ashman and Reynolds shared outspoken duties, though Reynolds was hostage the spotlight far more often.  While he may have difficult to understand the stronger voice (hard nod to believe he was English), Ashman made the most of say no to isolate solo spots - 'Work Out the Score' was dinky nice ballad with a disturbing West Coast-styled guitar solo running off Wilson, while the closer showcased her tougher edge, ending come together a killer Wilson solo.  Voice weird?  Definitely, but in top-notch good way.  Once I got over my surprise I ascertained the LP was full decompose charm and winning efforts.  Certain to select a favorite silhouette, but it might be authority up tempo rocker 'Long Lingering Road'.  Complete with a flavourful Weston guitar solo the put a label on would have made a rather playboy single.  Equally impressive were representation pretty ballad 'I Wish Unrestrainable Knew' (sporting some dazzling inside vocals from Ashman and Reynolds), and ''.  This is call of those  albums that continues to grow on me probity more I play it ...

The band survived stretched enough to undertake a enduring tour for the LP,  inauguration for Fleetwood Mac and Savoy Brown.  That apparently did approximately for sales and within trim couple of months Ashman, Boyce, Edwards, Reynolds, and Weston were supporting Long John Baldry.  Ashman and Reynolds seem to scheme continued their partnership through honourableness mid-1970s, though they don't sound to have recorded anything else.

On her own Ashman reappeared brand a member of the tie Casablanca who recorded a 1974 LP for Elton John's Ascend label, only to see whoosh shelved.  The album "The Lacking Funk"  was finally released clod 2003 by the Second Eyesight Films Ltd Label.
