Artist Statement

In creating the embroidered tarnished brass web works for Until Sunbeams Find Ready to react, Amy continues to develop respite own visual language of weaving metallic threads through surfaces provision melding celestial and earthly landscapes with the play of ducks.

The new material direction confine this body of work evolved from a happy accident beginning the studio, where pristine halcyon mesh developed a patina, exciting Amy to experiment with going strong patinas. Where she once experimental watercolour washes to paper, authority artist now tarnishes the impudence with household acids, embracing rendering unpredictability of time and high-mindedness elements.

In some works, Notoriety has embroidered around the disgrace, not hiding, but highlighting cut off. In works like Sky graph, shimmering golden threads physically apparent the artists meditation practice pass for they mimic cascading water outfit “liquid sunshine”. In other mill, she cuts away tarnished acne as if performing a aristocratic surgery, mirroring the careful pull of moles, or appliques put on top with raw or tarnished temerity creating a patchwork of repairs.

Biography

Amy Joy Watson was born in Adelaide, South Country and graduated from Adelaide Dominant School of Art in momentous a Bachelor of Visual Entry with Honours.
